Water tank for PHILIPS steam irons
The water tank holds the water for the steam iron. It is generally preferable to fill the tank with demineralised water. This part is required for the steam iron to be able to work, as this tank supplies another pressurised tank which in turn supplies the iron with steam. The tank is usually detachable and provides unlimited autonomy when ironing, as it can be re-filled during use (without having to switch off the appliance). It therefore stores the water until needed at which point it is pumped out and converted into steam!
This tank may rust, leak or become damaged. If this is the case, you'll need to replace it.
If there is any water leaking from this tank, it will be because it has a breakage or hole in it. You can check if this is the case by detaching the part, if it can be detached, or by directly inspecting this part where it is located on the iron.
If the leak is the result of damage to the tank, then you must replace the tank.
Please note: it is possible that water is leaking from the tank because it has been overfilled. Usually there is a maximum level indicator that allows you to monitor this. If the water level inside the tank exceeds this threshold, then empty out some of the water!
