Risk of electric shock.
Incorrect dose of detergent
This is the first thing to consider should you encounter this problem. Generally, it is that you have used too much detergent. It is important to adapt the quantity of detergent used to suit the quantity and type of laundry that you put into the machine, but you must also consider the hardness of the water where you live. In fact, if you live in an area with very hard water, you will have to use more detergent than in an area where the water is soft. It is therefore essential to find out about the hardness of the water, if you are moving house, for example. Other common mistakes include putting laundry detergent in the fabric softener tray or using hand wash detergent. This is not suitable for use in a washing machine. If there is still detergent in the machine after the end of this programme, this means that detergent has accumulated in the machine. To remove detergent residue, run a hot cycle. This should dissolve unused detergent inside the machine. It may be necessary to repeat this operation several times depending on the amount of detergent that has accumulated.
You can clean the washing machine and its pipes of detergent residues by running the machine empty at 90°C, adding 1 litre of household vinegar.
You can remove remaining foam from the drum of your washing machine by adding fine salt to the detergent drawer and then pouring in water so that the mixture passes into the drum: all the foam will disappear, as if by magic!
The detergent drawer is clogged
Excessive foam production may also be due to your appliance's detergent drawer being clogged. The clogged detergent can block the distribution flaps, prevent the proper flow of the detergent and ultimately cause excess foam. To fix this problem, you will have to remove the detergent drawer and clean it thoroughly with hot water and a little washing-up liquid. Use an old toothbrush to reach every nook and cranny of the detergent drawer. If necessary, leave it to soak overnight in soapy water. If the component is no longer suitable for use, it will have to be replaced.

The drainage hose is not properly connected
The drainage hose of your washing machine can also cause a foam overflow. In fact, all it takes is for it to be clogged or to have moved within the pipe, and drainage will not take place as normal. The water level in the drum is kept at a constant thanks to the drainage of excess water via the drainage system. As a result, an overflow can occur. We advise that you check this component and reinstall it correctly, unclog it or replace it if it shows signs of wear.

The drainage pump filter is clogged or the propeller is stuck
The drainage pump filter may be the cause of your overflow, for 2 reasons:
- • It has become obstructed by small objects caught during the washing cycles. Objects such as coins, tissues or other small items left in pockets may be lodged in the component and can prevent the proper drainage of the rinse water.
- • It has been incorrectly installed, after disassembly for cleaning for instance, and no longer performs its function properly.
