Your Washing Machine Is Filling Too Slowly With Water
Explore the possible causes that could explain why your washing machine is filling with water too slowly.
THE POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR THIS FAULT:
-
The water supply valve is not open enough
-
The water is being pumped out automatically
-
The solenoid valve is not working correctly
-
The compression chamber is blocked
-
The pressure switch is defective
-
The circuit board is not working correctly
WARNING
Before handling your machine, make sure you disconnect it from the power supply to avoid
any risk of electric shock.
Wear suitable protective gloves if you need to dismantle anything to avoid
any risk of getting cut or injured.
The water supply valve is not open enough
If the water supply valve is not open enough, the water will flow into your washing machine too slowly. Check to see whether you have a self-tapping valve installed, because if you have and it is badly fitted, the water will hardly flow into the washing machine causing the wash cycle to last several hours more than it should.
The water is being pumped out automatically
If your washing machine's drain hose is too deeply inserted into your standpipe, this can cause syphoning. This means that the water flowing into the washing machine will automatically drain out. We recommend you check that your drain pipe is inserted no more than 10 cm into the standpipe, which itself must be at least 65 cm above the ground.
The solenoid valve is not working correctly
The solenoid is an electric valve that controls the flow of water to your washing machine. If it is defective or if it’s filter is blocked with sand (i.e. limescale build up) for example, the water will flow into your machine very slowly, causing the cycle to take longer to complete. You can easily check whether the filter is blocked by detaching the machine's water inlet hose. If the filter is not clogged, we recommend to test the solenoid to make sure that it is working properly and replace it if necessary.
Purchase a washing machine solenoid valve
The compression chamber is blocked
The compression chamber is one of the components that enables the machine to detect the level of water inside it. Over time, the chamber can get clogged due to an accumulation of impurity deposits inside of it. These can result in the machine receiving an inaccurate indication of the water level and eventually This will cause it to continuously fill with water.
The pressure switch is defective
The pressure switch enables the machine to detect the level of water and start or stop the filling process. If it is defective, the machine may take in too little or far too much water, which means the time it takes to fill will be extended. We recommend you to start by checking the pressure switch with a multimeter before replacing it
Purchase a washing machine pressure switch
The circuit board is not working correctly
The control module manages all your washing machine's functions (motor, heating, water, etc.). If it is defective, it may supply incorrect information to the machine's various components. When this is the case, the time it takes to fill with water and then wash will be extended. If all of the other potential causes detailed above have been investigated, it is possible that the control module needs to be replaced.
