My raclette grill no longer heats up, what should I do?
Did you plan a dinner party with your buddies for some delicious, melted cheese but your gadget is on the fritz? Don’t panic, this problem is easy to fix. First of all, find out what’s causing this glitch by checking some parts of your gadget.
WHAT’S CAUSING THIS PROBLEM?
WARNING
Before you do anything to your appliance, make sure you disconnect it from the power supply.
There is a risk of electric shock.
A fault in the electrical connection
Before you even inspect your raclette grill, make sure it has a good supply of electricity. To check that the wall outlet is operational, simply plug in another appliance or a lamp. If the newly plugged in device also doesn’t work, repair your wall socket and in the meantime use another socket for your Raclette Party!
The power cable is faulty
Now, scrutinize the power cord of your cheese maker. It should not be melted, stripped, or cut. If everything is in good condition, proceed to the next check.
The on/off switch is out of order
Some models of electric raclette grills are equipped with an on/off switch. If it no longer works, your device will not turn on or heat. You can test this using a multimeter set to the ohmmeter position. There needs to be continuity when the switch is in the on position (i.e., 0.1 ohms).
). If no value is displayed, it will be necessary to replace the on/off button. Devices without a switch have a heat-sensitive fuse. Similarly, you can do a continuity test in resistance mode. As before, a value close to 0.1 ohms indicates the presence of continuity.

The heating element is broken
The heating element/coil is a crucial element of your device. Without it, there would be no melted cheese! To check this part, set your tester to Ohmmeter mode. You need to find a value between 20 and 60 ohms. If no value is displayed, it means that the resistor is switched off (it is no longer supplied with electricity). It will then need to be replaced.
