The blender or food processor no longer works, what to do?
What can we do without our blender to mix our soups or prepare smoothies? Do not be deprived of fruit and vegetables! Instead, consult this article which will guide you step by step to find the element responsible for the failure of your food processor. You can then repair your mixer yourself.
POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THIS FAULT:
-
Power supply fault
-
Broken mixer blades
-
Misuse of the blender
-
Faulty gear
-
Damaged electrical wire
-
Engine malfunction
-
Broken command selector
-
Electronic card H.S.
WARNING
Before carrying out any work on your appliance, be absolutely sure that you first completely disconnect it from the mains electricity supply.
Risk of electric shock.
Wear protective gloves if you need to disassemble the appliance.
Risk of cuts and abrasions.
A problem with the power supply
In case of startup problems, start by checking that your blender is properly supplied with electricity. Is the power cord in good condition? Is its plug properly inserted into the electrical socket? If so, take a look at the electrical panel in case a circuit breaker switch has turned off, indicating a faulty appliance. If the meter is operational, the power problem may be with the wall outlet used for the food processor (e.g. a blown fuse). Simply connect another device to validate that the wall outlet is functional. You will need to call in an electrician if no device works on this outlet. Otherwise, you can eliminate this cause of failure.
A blade is broken
Similarly, do not put anything in the bowl of the blender such as fruit pits or bones. By doing this you risk blunting or even breaking the blade of the mixer. Sometimes it is possible to change only the blades; while on some models the complete bowl will need to be replaced.
Misuse of the blender
Be careful not to overload the bowl of your food processor. In this case, you risk overheating due to too much stress on the engine. At this point, the blender can trigger a thermal safety feature and stop working. Faced with this situation, wait about ten minutes until the device has completely cooled. Then, divide your preparation in order to respect the maximum load allowed for your kneading processor. Unfortunately, if the machine still does not start after following this step, it means that the engine block of the kneading processor has been damaged and will need to be replaced.
A gear is defective
This is probably the most common failure on this type of device. Gears are usually made of plastic. Being heavily solicited, they wear out over time, they even break and are no longer able to rotate. The cost of this repair varies depending on the brand and model of your blender. Sometimes only the gear needs to be replaced. You may also need to replace the complete bowl, the bowl’s base, or the blender base.
An electrical wire is damaged
A damaged electrical wire in a food processor is a breakdown that forces you to disassemble everything, but this repair has the advantage of being inexpensive or even free with a little of your time. Following much use or accidental falls an electric wire disconnects. Sometimes, a terminal can also heat up, either because it has been installed incorrectly, or as a result of too much stress on the device. If this issue is due to a disconnected wire you can simply reconnect it. On the other hand, if you notice that a terminal has burned out or overheated resulting in damage, it will be necessary to replace it.
The engine is damaged
This is the worst-case scenario for your blender. If your blender had a heart it would be its engine. If the latter stops working, none of the blender’s features will function. Depending on the model, it is possible to replace this spare part and extend the life of your food processor or mixer. Sometimes the engine alone is available. In other cases, it will be necessary to change the entire base of the blender.
The control button is broken
This is another fairly common failure on this type of food processor. The button used to start the blender and select the speed can break. You will then find that the knob turns too easily and nothing happens. Sometimes it comes away in your hand! Luckily, its replacement is not very complicated: it is usually enough to refit the new controller.

The electronic board is out of service
Some models of mixer are equipped with a potentiometer (for measuring voltage) or an electronic board. This component is the brain of the food processor and controls all its features. It gives the starting instruction and informs the motor of the selected speed. If the electronic board is defective, the robot will refuse to work or turn on. It is sometimes an expensive component to replace. If all the previous checks have not revealed the failure, and the blender still refuses to mix, this is because the potentiometer or the card/board (depending on the model concerned) will have to be replaced.
