The food processor has an abnormal smell of burning
Your multifunctioning blender is your second in the kitchen, helping you to concoct meals for the whole family. It's hard to do without the food processor! But recently, it seems to be in bad shape: it gives off a disturbing smell as if something is burning. Thanks to this troubleshooting article, quickly diagnose the origin of this smell to repair your vital household appliance.
POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THIS FAULT:
WARNING
Before carrying out any work on your appliance, be absolutely sure that you first completely disconnect it from the mains electricity supply.
Risk of electric shock.
Wear protective gloves if you need to disassemble the appliance
Risk of cuts and abrasions.
The blades of the food processor are damaged
The first check to perform in the presence of a hot smell is that of the blades or knife of your food processor. If this part is degraded, it can rub on the walls of the device and force an additional effort from the engine which will heat up and produce a burning smell. Check the condition of the blades by disassembling the bowl from your device. If the blades are blunt or damaged, it will be necessary to replace the element.

Gaskets are worn
When the seals of the machine are damaged, they no longer properly fulfill their sealing role. As a result, liquid can pass into the base of the robot and reach the motor. Inspect all joints of your culinary assistant. If the seal(s) appear to be in good condition but are dirty, clean them thoroughly: food scraps stuck on the seal can create enough space to let liquid through. On the other hand, if they are worn, crushed or cracked, they can no longer guarantee their waterproof function. If you act quickly when the first smell is noticed, it will probably be enough to replace the gasket concerned. However, we advise you to disassemble the base of the robot to examine the motor, wipe it if necessary, and then let it dry completely before repeating a test.

The drive shaft malfunctions
The drive shaft or drive coupling of a food processor ensures the connection between the blades and the rotary axis of the motor. If this part malfunctions, the engine may be overloaded. It will heat up in excess generating a characteristic smell of burning. When made of plastic, it can melt and harden which can lead to engine overload. Or, it can break and debris may enter the engine block and heat up: producing a smell of burnt plastic. This spare part is easily disassembled. Located under the blades, it usually has a gear shape. Check the condition of the part and change it if you find that it is damaged. Also be sure to recover any pieces of plastic that may have entered the base of the food processor or even the engine block.
The motor of the food processor is suffering
Once the previous checks have been done, direct your research to the motor of the food processor. Be sure to unplug your device and then make a visual inspection of the engine block to identify any anomaly. For example, the presence of foreign objects, traces of moisture. Also make sure that the item does not rub on the walls of the food processor. If you do not detect any of these anomalies, disassemble the engine to remove it from its housing. You can then check that the propellers rotate correctly by rotating them manually.
