The food processor is not working
What a great assistant the multifunctional food processor is! It assists us with our culinary preparations on a daily basis: beating, mixing, blending... in short: this is an appliance that saves time and effort! Things therefore become a little more complicated if the food processor stops working. Why won't it switch on? In this article, we help you to identify and resolve the fault yourself.
POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THIS FAULT:
There is no power being supplied to the appliance
As with all electrical appliances, a power supply problem often explains why your multifunctional food processor will not switch on. So it isn't working at all? Nothing happens when you try to switch it on (no noise, no light, no movement...)
There can be various reasons for a power supply fault: a faulty socket, a faulty cable or plug... or even a power failure.
- If the plug is faulty, no electrical appliance will be able to operate when connected to it and the food processor will operate normally when plugged into another outlet. In this case the plug socket must be repaired. The best option for DIY novices will be to hire an electrician.
- If the power supply cable or plug is faulty, connecting the food processor to another outlet will not fix the problem and other electrical appliances will work fine when plugged into the food processor's outlet. A cable fault is usually clearly visible. It will either be cut, bent, burnt or stripped... As far as the plug is concerned, the defect may or may not be directly visible (twisted for example). In the latter case, the plug will have to be dismantled in order to identify a defect in the electrical connection. If this is the cause of the problem, replace the entire power cable, including the plug.

Finally, if the power problem is due to a power failure, you will find that the food processor is not the only device that does not work. In this case, there will be a general shutdown and all you can do is wait. If only devices on the same circuit are not working, the power failure is only affecting that circuit. You can restore power by resetting the circuit breaker or replacing the fuse. Remember to unplug or turn off certain appliances beforehand to avoid another power surge.
The belt on the food processor is damaged
If a drive belt is slack, broken, cracked or worn, then this may be the reason your food processor not running. The appliance is working and switches on, but the belt no longer transmits motion to the gears and consequently to the fitting. If the belt is damaged, replace it.

The gears are defective
Defective gears can explain why a food processor no longer works. Usually, when this problem occurs, the appliance will emit abnormal noise during operation. The gears of the drive mechanism or the planetary block (the gears that directly rotate the beaters or mixers) then no longer allow the fitting to rotate on account of the damage they have suffered: broken teeth, wear... The damaged parts will have to be replaced in order for the food processor to work properly.
The food processor is overfilled
If the appliance is overfilled, it may no longer work. It is actually an overload safety that trips to protect the device. For example, if the food to be kneaded is too thick, the appliance will have difficulty performing its task, which will cause the motor to heat up and may cause serious damage. The safety device switches off the motor to prevent excessive damage to the food processor. Wait until the appliance has cooled down and then remove the problematic food before turning the appliance on again using a button intended specifically for this purpose,
The control knob is faulty
A faulty switch may also be the reason your appliance is not working. Even though you are turning the knob to switch on the robot, nothing is happening, and for good reason: the switch is spinning loose. Usually, it is just the plastic knob that allows the switch to rotate that is causing the issue. If this part is damaged (broken, cracked...), it will not enable the movement of the rod that actuates the switch. You will then feel that the knob turns too easily, without any resistance: replace it to solve the problem.

The motor is faulty
The last cause that could explain why a multifunctional food processor is not working is a fault with its motor. In this case, you can see that the tool is not turning and the motor is not making any noise, but the lights on the appliance come on. The only solution is to replace the motor.
Some models are equipped with a motor fitted with carbon brushes. These can be replaced without having to change the entire motor.
