There is a risk of electric shock.
Wear suitable protective gloves if you need to dismantle anything.
There is a risk of getting cut or injured.
Failing power supply
The first thing to check if your grill no longer turns on is its power supply. Plug the cooking appliance into another outlet to dismiss the wall installation. Check that the power cable is not cut or melted. Also visually check the power plug which must not show traces of burning. In the event of an anomaly, the power cord of the barbecue will need to be replaced.
The grill switch no longer works
Some electric grills have a power switch. Sometimes it no longer works properly. To test it, first unplug your device and then set a multimeter to the Ohmmeter position. Perform a continuity test to see if the switch is electrically powered.
The thermostat block is poorly positioned
Most electric barbecues are equipped with a thermostat block. This one rests on safety pins. When the thermostat block is put on them incorrectly, the safety remains engaged and the cooking appliance cannot start.
The thermostat malfunctions
The thermostat of your grill or electric barbecue is used to control the heating power of the device. To determine if the part is functional, perform a continuity test using your multimeter. Set your tester to the continuity position. Go to the thermostat and remove the lug nuts. Then, place the tips on each terminal of this component. The thermostat is functional if the multimeter displays 0 or beeps. Otherwise, it will have to be replaced.
If the model of your grill has a master switch, the thermostat/temperature will switch on.
