My electric shaver not shaving properly
Electric shavers contain a small motor that drives the blades, enabling them to provide a precise and rapid shave. Noticing when shaving that your shaver is no longer cutting, not shaving to an acceptable standard or performing less efficiently? It's important to find out the cause of this reduction in performance before taking steps to correct it. Save time and solve the issue more quickly by consulting our useful guide to the most common causes.
THE POTENTIAL CAUSES FOR THIS ISSUE:
WARNING
Before carrying out any work on your appliance, make absolutely sure you first completely disconnect it from the mains electricity supply.
Risk of electric shock.
Wear protective gloves if you need to disassemble the appliance.
Risk of cuts and abrasions.
THE SHAVER HEAD IS DIRTY OR DAMAGED
Regularly cleaning and maintaining your shaver will ensure it continues to perform at an optimal level. To clean the head of your shaver, first ensure the appliance is unplugged from the mains and switched off. Submerge the shaving head in a bowl of warm soapy water for a few seconds. Dislodge any bits of dead skin, shaving foam, gel, hair, etc., by gently working away at the blades with a nailbrush. If any hairs remain stuck, disassemble the shaving head and clean each blade separately using a jet of warm water. Leave your shaver to dry at room temperature and wait till it's completely dry before plugging it in again.
It's recommended to regularly change – i.e. around once every two years – the shaving heads of electric shavers, especially if used on a daily basis. Some appliances are equipped with a special warning light that lets the user know when it's time to change the shaving head. Before plugging your shaver in, make sure you rinse the cutting head to remove any traces of shaving foam, and thoroughly dry it afterwards using a clean cloth.

THE BLADES ARE WORN
The blades need to be changed more often than the shaving head as they come into direct contact with the skin and can quickly become worn. Using worn blades can affect the quality of the shave produced and increase the risk of cuts.
Electric shavers come in two kinds: the foil type equipped with a thin metal mesh that floats across the skin, and rotary shavers equipped with a shaving head consisting of multiple integrated double blades.

3-DAY STUBBLE MODE HAS BEEN SELECTED
More recent electric shavers are often equipped with a feature that allows you to control the closeness of the shave to achieve different kinds of look. If you want a close shave, ensure the shaver is adjusted to the correct cutting length.
