Improper installation of the dishwasher drain
A siphoning phenomenon may occur during the drainage process, whereby water can return to your machine in the opposite direction and thus cause your dishwasher to overflow. This is usually due to it being incorrectly plumbed in. . To verify that your appliance is properly installed, check that the drainage hose is at least 65 cm above the ground and inserted no more than 15 cm into the wall standpipe. There must always be sufficient space for the air to pass between your drainage hose and your plumbing pipe.

A cleaning agent error
Detergents specially designed for dishwashers have low foaming properties. Even if you run out of dishwasher tablets, do not attempt to use manual washing-up liquid. . This type of detergent produces a lot of foam and is not at all compatible with a dishwasher.
As this is human error, if you have made a mistake and your dishwasher is full of foam, you will have to remove as much foam as possible using a sponge and a bowl, then add the equivalent of a 1.5 litre bottle of water, start a cycle and stop it once it has finished draining. Repeat the operation until the foam is completely eliminated...
Presence of a rinse aid in the appliance's tub
When putting rince aid into your dishwasher, some of the product spilled into the tub. Or maybe you didn't close the cap on the dedicated compartment properly. In either case, foam production can occur during a wash cycle.
If you have spilled rinsing agent next to the tub, pour a capful of cooking oil into the tub and then start the pre-wash program to remove the foam.
An overdose of rinse aid
The quantity of rinse aid used must be adapted to the hardness of the water in your system.. If it is not particularly hard, the amount of rinse aid should be limited. If you use too much in relation to the quality of your water, you may have to deal with excess foam. On most appliances, it is possible to adjust the water hardness from from the control panel of the machine. Refer to the owner's manual for your appliance to make this adjustment.
The detergent dispenser is cracked
Another possible source is the detergent dispenser. . In fact, if this is cracked, it will leak and let too much rinse aid pass through, with the same consequence as above.
To check the detergent dispenser for leaks, fill the dispenser with rinse aid and wait 48 hours. Check its level: if the dispenser is empty, the component is leaking and must not have a proper seal. It will have to be replaced.
