Dishwasher is overfilled or badly stacked
One of the first things to check if your dishwasher door has stopped closing or appears to be stuck is the positioning of the kitchen utensils and the dishes inside the appliance. If a pan or dish is not properly stacked, the door may no longer close properly. On the other hand, a machine that is overfilled may also be difficult to close, especially as the rack may sag due to the excessively heavy load. In addition, stacking dishes or objects on top of one another can render the washing cycle ineffective, since dirt and food residue can no longer be properly removed.
Door seal is damaged
Regardless of the model, the door of a dishwasher has a seal that runs the whole way around, which guarantees that the appliance is sealed sealed when in operation, thus preventing the risk of leak. If the seal is faulty, the door of your appliance may become difficult or even impossible to close. A worn seal is easy to detect: it may have holes ou des cracks, or even be torn along its entire width or length. Water escaping from the door during the cycle is another revealing sign. If this is the case, it is preferable to replace the seal immediately.
Most dishwashers are equipped with two types of seal: lower door seals, which, as their name suggests, are located at the bottom of the door, and door surround seals, the purpose of which is to increase safety during the washing cycle.

Rack out of position
The racks may be out of position. The lower rack may have been inadvertently turned upside down when cleaning the filters. As for the top rack, the problem is generally that the washing arm is not properly seated in the pipe at the bottom of the dishwasher. As a result, they obstruct the closing of the door. Check the position of the racks to make sure that this is not the source of the problem.
Door latch locked while door is open
The door latch on your dishwasher may get stuck in the closed position while the door is still open. When you close the door, it won't latch. In this case, disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply et use a metal hook to reposition the door latch. If you are unable to return the latch to its proper position, the part is broken and the door latch will need to be replaced.
The door seal is incorrectly positioned
If your dishwasher door seal is not properly positioned, it can obstruct the closing of the appliance. Check that the seal has not slipped or come loose. Reposition it before trying to close your machine again. It is also possible that the seal may no longer stay in place. In this case we recommend that you replace it.

The door catch is damaged or stuck
Dishwashers are equipped with a safety device; a small metal or plastic hook located centrally, on the upper edge of the door. When the hook is properly latched, a dull thud can be heard, which alerts the user that the dishwasher is properly closed and can be started. Check that the hook is not stuck or broken when closing the appliance.

The handle is broken
As a result of the opening and closing of your dishwasher, regardless of the degree of care you exercise, the handle can break. A damaged handle can prevent the appliance door from opening or closing.
Sometimes it is just the spring of the dishwasher handle that is faulty: the handle must then be completely disassembled in order to replace this part. Before performing such a job, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall outlet.

Deposits or dirt are preventing it from closing
If you are not using a pre-wash cycle or if your filter has not been properly emptied and cleaned, food residue or debris may be deposited on the door when your dishwasher is running. Dirt can accumulate on the door or in the handle, which will then appear to be stuck.
Don't forget to regularly clean the inside of the handle of your machine with a brush or a toothbrush soaked in mild detergent.
