A Fault with the Breakmaker's Motor
And what if it's simply a fault with the motor in your breadmaker? To find out if this is the case, you can test and check this component using a multimeter. On the majority of models, the motor can be accessed by lifting out the bread pan then removing the appliance's main compartment.
- Before doing anything, however, it's absolutely imperative to first unplug your appliance from the mains before proceeding to test the continuity of the motor's coils. Ensure your multimeter is in ohmmeter mode before carrying out the test. If you can't detect any continuity at the motor's terminals, you will need to replace the whole component.
- To check for the presence of voltage at the motor, by contrast, you'll need to plug your breadmaker back in and use the multimeter in voltmeter mode. Be extremely careful when carrying out this procedure!
And finally, don't forget to check the motor's gears, which might be damaged or seized up, thus preventing the motor from starting.
